My Cole World

*by show of hands ... How many people found out about J.Cole b/c of ME??????* (i guarantee it's like 50+ people with their hands up)

 I LOVE MUSIC.  How many times have I listened to an artist and their flow sent chills through me? ONE TIME
"Flow Cold as the Shoulder of Gold digging hoes, when a broke nigga approaches" (A Star is Born) <<< THIS made me want MORE! I asked WHO IS THIS GUY? Who is J.COLE???
My friends and I have a serious appreciation for music so we often bounce music off of each other.  My friend and I discussed J.Cole and decided o look up youtube video's .... we came across this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dyPeGDeS3o (Lights Please).  That very day, we spent about 4 hours going through all the youtube videos of him rapping and after hearing him MURDER track after track after track.... I pledged MY allegiance as a FAN!

I LOVE J.Cole b/c:

1) He reps NC (+ a Carolina Fan) - He often tells stories about his mother raising him in Fayettville,NC.

 "They say I'm the down south Nas, The east coast Pac, The Carolina Andre, The Fayettenam Kanye, So join it, ya can't beat it, To all the nonbelievers, If you missed it I'll repeat it, I'm the light skinned Jesus" (I really mean it)

2) He's not Soulija Boy (who got discovered on youtube), he's not the son of a rapper that got put on (Diggy and Jojo) ... He paid his dues FIRST....

 3) J.Cole has somethings that a lot of mainstream artist don't have >>>> EDUCATION

He graduated from St.John's (which is a well respected institution) 

4) He knows the struggle

5) Lastly and most importantly .... He has DELIVERY

I don't know what the future holds for Cole BUT I support him!  I'm soooooooooooooo ready for him to release an album and hopefully the pressures of becoming more and more mainstream (like Drake) doesn't get him caught up.  He's a talented rapper and the game NEEDS him 2 breathe LIFE back into Hip Hop.<<< I said all that to say.....

Anyway, the movie promoted me to come to grips with my reality ....

I don't want to give the movie away so I'll speak in general terms .... Some people in our family nor friends will never approve of .... the person you love is married, the person you love is addicted to drugs, the person you love has kids, the person you love is the same sex as you, the person you love doesn't have a college degree, the person you love has put their hands on you, the person you love isn't a Christian, the person you love is in prison, the person you love was found on the Internet ... the list goes on and on of reasons why family/friends don't approve!

I'll never forget being at my cousin's funeral (after she was killed by her husband) and one of the first things Pastor Hill said was "We can't help who we love" and he was simply defending my cousin against people who ask "how does a woman still love a man after he has choked/beat/etc her?"  I agree with Pastor Hill ... I can't help who i love!

There are a lot of areas in life that i look at and judge people based on their decisions BUT one area that i truly try to NEVER judge is ... LOVE

Love is the STRONGEST emotion I have EVER encountered.  And to be told that you can't love someone because of circumstances or based on how other people feel, is unfair!!!  It puts love in a container AND if you know LOVE, like I know LOVE.... it's claustrophobic :)

So I blogged to say, I LOVE YOU!  My love for you defies gravity,  unmeasurable, undying, never wavering, unconditional .... LOVE!!!! and if loving you is wrong .... I DON'T WAN TO BE RIGHT!
